Funny. It has potential. Hate the title, for starters. With just a little tweaking, this could have been immortal.

This short film was designed to be viewed on a 2” x 2” mobile phone. That needs to be taken into consideration:

“Designed as a new way to bring compelling, original short films to new and broader audiences, the Sundance Film Festival Global Short Film Project presents five mobile shorts by some of our favorite independent filmmakers.

This collaboration between Sundance Institute and GSM utilises mobile technology to share independent shorts with film lovers around the world and represents the continuing evolution of the Sundance Film Festival’s mission to create platforms and build audiences for independent film.

“I’ve always felt that anyone who is truly interested in independent film should pay attention to shorts. They are often an indication of what’s coming down the creative pike.”—Robert Redford, Sundance Institute President and Founder”

“The coolest thing about this project for me… is the opportunity to make a film for the love of it and for no other reason than that. You can do whatever you want. With the cell phone and the small screen, the feel of something like Learning to Skateboard is going to be spontaneous and slapdash and intentionally so.” – Jody Hill

The reason (probably) that it became immortal so fast is that Will Ferrell is a big fan of Danny McBride and is releasing a movie of his called FOOT FIST WAY. I saw this short and Foot Fist at the Drafthouse in Austin and Patton Oswalt said all of this and that Danny McBride is becoming a big name among comedians.
